How to Tell if Pork Chops Are Done

Cooking pork chops correctly can make them delicious and tender. However, if cooked too long, they can become tough and dry. To make sure you end up with juicy, succulent pork chops, here are a few tips on how to know when your chops are done.

Instructions

  • Check the internal temperature of the pork chop with an instant-read thermometer. Pork chops are safe to eat when the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  • Cut into the pork chop with a sharp knife to check for doneness. The pork should be juicy and pink in the middle, not bloody. If there is blood, you should cook the pork chops further.
  • Look at the coloring. Cooked pork chops will be pale pink when raw, and then light brown when cooked. If the pork chops are still pale, they need to be cooked further.
  • Press on the pork chop with your finger. A cooked pork chop will be firm to the touch. If they still feel soft, cook longer.
