Frying Pork Chops at Home
Tender, flavorful pork chops are simple to prepare on the stovetop. With a few basic ingredients, a hot skillet, and the right technique, a great tasting meal can be ready in minutes.
Ingredients Needed:
- Pork chops
- Salt and pepper
- Cooking oil such as canola, vegetable, or extra-virgin olive oil
- Butter or shortening (optional)
Instructions:
- Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add enough oil to just cover the bottom of the pan.
- Once the oil is hot, add the pork chops to the skillet. Cook the chops for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Add butter or shortening to the skillet for extra flavor and color (optional).
- Transfer the pork chops to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
