How to Propagate a Grapevine from Store Bought Grapes
Grapevines are a type of vine that can grow fruit with enough care. If you’ve ever wanted to try propagating your own grapevine, you can do this with store bought grapes. Here’s a step by step guide on how you can propagate a grapevine from store bought grapes.
Steps
- Gather the supplies you will need: store bought grapes, scissors, cotton swabs, potting soil, and a pot or container.
- To prepare the grapes, cut off the stem just below the berry so there is 1 to 2 cm of stem still attached. Make sure to leave the grape intact and the roots attached.
- Using the cotton swabs, carefully remove any of the white film that coats the grape.
- Fill the pot or container with potting soil so it is one inch below the rim.
- Gently place the prepared grape in the soil and lightly press the soil around it.
- Water the grapes thoroughly and wait for the roots to form.
- Keep the soil moist by watering every few days. The grapevine should be ready to transplant to outdoors or a bigger pot when it’s about 10 inches tall.
