How to View Your DNS Cache

DNS (Domain Name System) caches store information about websites you have visited recently. This data is stored in order to speed up the process of navigating to websites, and can be viewed and managed to ensure your computer is working optimally. Here's how to view your DNS cache:

  1. Open Command Prompt on your computer. On Windows 10, press 'Windows' + 'X' to open the Quick Access Menu, then left-click on 'Command Prompt' or 'Command Prompt (Admin).'
  2. Type 'ipconfig /displaydns' and then press 'Enter' to get the list of DNS caches on your device.
  3. The list will contain Domain Name, DNS Record Type, and the associated data.
  4. If you want to clear your DNS cache, type 'ipconfig /flushdns' and press 'Enter' in the command prompt window.

If possible, you should restart your computer after flushing the DNS cache in order for the changes to take effect. Doing this will also maximize the speed of your computer when navigating the internet.
