How to Make Resin Jewelry
Making unique and beautiful jewelry with resin is a fun and creative craft. If you’re looking to get started making resin jewelry, here are the basic steps:
Materials You Need
- Resin with its curing agent
- Mixing cup and stirring stick
- Jewelry bezel or other mold
- Assorted jewelry items to be embedded into resin such as beads, stones, mini shells, flowers,
leaves, glitter or confetti
- Optional items: rubber gloves, dust mask, alcohol wipes, UV or LED light curing unit.
Instructions
- Measure out specific amounts of resin and curing agent according to package instructions. Pour them into a plastic cup and mix the two together using the stirring stick.
- Choose the items to include in your jewelry piece and place them in the bezel or mold.
- Fill the mold with resin mixture and stir again to ensure that there are no air pockets between the jewelry items and the resin.
- Let the resin sit for a few hours or overnight to thoroughly harden. For faster curing time, use a UV light or LED light unit.
- Remove the hardened resin piece from the mold. Use a nail file or fine sand paper to smooth the edges.
- If needed, use alcohol wipes to remove any grease or other residue on the resin piece.
- Position the jewelry findings such as jump rings, eye pins, earring hooks or necklaces on the resin piece and secure with jewelry glue.
- Attach jewelry clasps and wear!
