How to Create Jewelry Using Your Breastmilk

Creating beautiful jewelry from your breastmilk is easier than you think! Follow these steps and you’ll be able to craft pieces of jewelry to commemorate your breastfeeding journey or to give to someone special.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

  • Breastmilk (fresh or frozen);
  • Glass vials;
  • Jewelry supplies (chain, charm, etc.);
  • Glitter, if desired;
  • Baking soda or cornstarch.

Step 2: Prep Your Materials

Once you have your supply of breast milk and glass vials, you’ll need to prepare your materials for the jewelry making process. This can be done by:

  • Pouring fresh or frozen breastmilk into the glass vials;
  • Adding a small amount of baking soda or cornstarch to each vial to give it some viscosity and prevent sinking;
  • Adding glitter to each vial, if desired.

Step 3: Placing Jewelry Pieces in the Vials

Once your vials are prepped, all that’s left to do is to drop your jewelry pieces into the vials. The size of the jewelry piece you use may determine the size of the vial you need.

Step 4: Setting the Jewelry & Letting it Dry

Once the jewelry pieces have been placed into the vials, you’ll need to let the breast milk and glitter dry and harden. You can do this by:

  • Placing the vials in a dehydrator or oven at low heat;
  • Leaving the vials in a cool, dark place for several days; or
  • Putting the vials in the refrigerator.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Creative Creations!

Once the jewelry pieces have fully dried, you can take them out and layer them with other jewelry materials or wear them as is. Enjoy your unique jewelry pieces and cherish the memories they evoke.
