How to Prepare Tofu

Tofu is a popular plant-based ingredient that is high in protein and can be made into a variety of dishes. Preparing tofu requires marinating and draining it before cooking or eating it as a snack. With these steps, you can make a delicious, healthful meal that is perfect for any occasion.

Steps

  • Drain and press the tofu. If the tofu comes in water, strain it and then wrap in a heavy kitchen cloth or paper towels. Place on a flat surface and apply pressure so the liquid will drain out of it.
  • Marinate the tofu. Place the tofu in a container and add your choice of marinade ingredients, such as soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and/or ginger. Make sure it’s well covered with the marinade before covering the container and allowing the tofu to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Cook the tofu. Heat a skillet and lightly coat it with oil. Add the marinated tofu and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the tofu is golden and lightly browned.
  • Serve the tofu. Serve prepared tofu with a variety of dishes, such as salads, stir-fries, noodle dishes, or as a snack. Enjoy!
