How to Cook Extra Firm Tofu
Tofu is a versatile ingredient that can be cooked in a variety of ways and takes on the flavor of a variety of seasonings. Extra firm tofu is the perfect foundation for stir-fries and other cooked dishes. With a few simple steps, you can quickly and easily prepare extra firm tofu for your favorite recipes.
Instructions
- Remove the extra firm tofu from the container and place it on a cutting board. Slice the tofu into cubes, slices or other desired shapes.
- Place the tofu pieces into a colander or strainer and rinse with cool water. Allow the water to drain off the tofu.
- Line a baking sheet with a double layer of paper towels or a dish towel. Arrange the tofu on the towel so that it's in a single layer.
- Cover the tofu with a second layer of paper towels or a dish towel. Place a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet, on the towels to drain the remaining moisture from the tofu.
- After about 30 minutes, remove the heavy object. The tofu is ready to be cooked in your favorite recipe.
