Measuring and Installing Roller Blinds

Roller blinds are a great addition to any home, providing an elegant and effective way to block out light and add privacy. To get the most out of your roller blinds, proper measurement and installation are essential. Follow these steps to ensure that your roller blinds are correctly measured and fitted.

Measuring

  • Measure the total width of the window opening, including the walls, and subtract 1/8th of an inch for clearance.
  • Divide this number in half and use the results to determine the width of each panel. The best results will be achieved when the panels are equal in width.
  • Measure the total height of the window opening, from the sill to the top of the opening, plus an inch for the length of the bracket when mounted.
  • Measure the width of the window opening at the sill and add 1/2 inch for the length of the bracket when mounted.
  • Write down all the measurements and refer to them when purchasing the roller blinds.

Installing

  • Locate the wall studs in the wall using a stud finder, and mark the positions on the wall.
  • Position the top bracket on the wall directly above the window and level it, then attach it to the wall using the appropriate screws.
  • Position the bottom bracket on the wall directly below the window and attach it to the wall using the appropriate screws.
  • Attach the oller blind’s safety cord, using the cord tie provided.
  • Attach the roller blind to the brackets by inserting the pins on the ends of the roller into the bracket.
  • Rotate the roller blind to the desired position until it snaps into place.
  • Position the bottom bar of the roller blind to the desired height and fit the thumbscrew into the bottom bracket.
  • Check the operation of the roller blind by raising and lowering it.
