How to Cut Bamboo Blinds
Bamboo blinds are a great alternative to regular window blinds, providing a natural complexity and texture that can nicely complement a variety of interior design. Having them made to custom size is expensive, so cutting them to size yourself is a great way to save money. Here is how you can do it safely and effectively.
Steps
Measure the window frame precisely - Measure the window frame horizontally and vertically with a tape measure and record the measurements accurately.
Mark the new size onto the blinds - Transfer the measurements you made from the window to the bamboo blinds with a permanent marker.
Cut the bamboo with a saw - Cut the blinds to size using either a jig saw, hacksaw, or a Japanese saw.
Sand the frayed edges - Use a fine-grit sandpaper to sand down any jagged edges that may have appeared as a result of the cutting.
Test the fit - Reattach the blinds to the window and test to make sure that the blinds now fit properly in the window.
