How to Measure for Blinds
Taking accurate measurements is important for a successful installation of blinds. Follow these steps to ensure your blinds fit right the first time.
- Decide on where you want to install the blinds. You’ll generally want to mount them on the inside of the window frame for optimal functionality.
- Using a metal measuring tape, measure the width of the window frame in three places: the top, middle, and bottom.
- Choose the smallest of the three measurements since this is the size you must work within.
- Measure the length of the window in three places: the left, middle, and right side.
- Record the measurements and subtract 1/4 inch from the width and 1/2 inch from the length. This will ensure the blinds fit properly.
- Double-check your measurements before ordering your blinds.
