How to Rethread a Roller Blind Cord

First gather the necessary supplies. A ladder, screwdriver and pliers may be needed depending on the type of roller blind installed. You will also need a new piece of cord as the portion used in the roller blind will likely be too short to rethread.

Steps:

  • Unscrew the roller blind brackets from the wall and separate them from the fabric.
  • Unscrew the roller blind cylinder from the brackets. Depending on the type of cylinder used, this may require a screwdriver, pliers, or unscrew the caps with your hands.
  • Remove the cord by unweaving it. Remove any knots and splices that are present.
  • Tie a knot at the top end of the cord and thread the cord through the brackets and the cylinder.
  • Once the cord is securely threaded through the cylinder, tie another knot at the bottom end of the cord.
  • Reattach the roller blind brackets and the roller blind cylinder.
  • Tie a knot at the end of the cord and pull the cord taut until the knot passes through the brackets.
  • Secure the cord in place by tying a knot or loop.

How to Rethread a Roller Blind Cord

Roller blinds are popular window treatments that can be easily adapted to suit a variety of window styles. The cords on roller blinds can become tangled and need to be re-threaded to allow them to operate properly. Here's how to re-thread your roller blind cord quickly and easily:

    1. Unlock the cord hold-down by pressing the plastic pin located at the bottom of the roller blind.
    2. Pull the cord downwards so you can access the cord pulley.
    3. Thread the cord in such a way that it comes out through the hold-down.
    4. Pull the cord downwards, through the pulley.
    5. Pull the cord all the way through, up to the top of the blind.
    6. Grip the underside of the pulley with two hands and pull it towards you until it is approximately 1/2 inch further away from the blind.
    7. Release the pulley and make sure the blind moves up and down without any obstruction or tangles in the cord.
    8. Pull the cord downwards and thread it through the cord hold-down again.
    9. Lock the cord hold-down and test the blind again.
