How to Turn off a PS4 Without a Controller
It may not be easy to turn off your PlayStation 4 without a controller, but it can be done. Whether you have lost the controller or are trying to conserve battery, you can still turn off your console without a controller. Here are some methods for doing so.
Using the PlayStation Mobile App
The PlayStation mobile app can be used to turn off the PS4 even if you don't have the controller. Follow these steps:
- Download and install the PlayStation app on your compatible mobile device. This is available for both iOS and Android devices.
- Open the app and connect it to your PS4 system. To do so, you will need to select "Connect to PS4” from the app's home screen and then enter the 8-digit code displayed on your TV screen.
- Once connected, you will be able to access the Power icon on the app. Select "Turn Off PS4" and your system will be powered down.
Using an HDMI Device
Another way to turn off the console without a controller is by using an HDMI device. This method requires some additional equipment, as follows:
- A TV or monitor with an HDMI port, as well as an HDMI cable
- A USB keyboard
Once you have the necessary equipment, follow these steps:
- Connect the HDMI cable from your PS4 to the TV or monitor with the HDMI port. This will allow you to view the PS4's home screen.
- Connect the USB keyboard to one of the PS4's USB ports.
- Press and hold the power button on the front of the ps4 console for at least 7 seconds. The system will beep twice and then will shut down.
Once the PS4 is completely shut down, you should be able to disconnect the HDMI cable and the USB cable from the PS4 and be on your way.
