How to Turn Off an Xbox Controller on a Windows PC

If you’ve finished playing your favorite Xbox game on your Windows PC, it’s important to turn off your Xbox controller to preserve battery life. This quick tutorial will show you the few steps required to turn off your Xbox controller on your Windows PC.

Instructions

  1. Open the Start menu on your Windows PC.
  2. Click ‘Devices and Printers’.
  3. Locate the Xbox controller in the list of connected devices.
  4. Choose the ‘Game Controller Settings’ tab.
  5. Select the ‘Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows’ in the list.
  6. Click the ‘Properties’ button.
  7. Go to the ‘Settings’ tab.
  8. Press the ‘Turn Off’ button.

After you have pressed the ‘Turn Off’ button, the Xbox controller should turn off. If the controller does not turn off, double press the Xbox button on the controller. This should turn off the controller and disconnect it from your Windows PC.
