How to Make Chocolate Frosting
Making a delicious, chocolatey frosting is easier than you think! All you'll need is the following simple ingredients and minimalist tools:
- ¼ cup of cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- ½ cup of unsalted butter
- 3 to 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar
- ¼ teaspoon of almond extract (optional)
- 2 to 6 tablespoons of milk
- Bowl
- Stand or hand mixer
Instructions
- Combine cocoa powder, salt, butter, almond extract, and 2 tablespoons of the milk into the bowl.
- With a stand or hand mixer, blend until the ingredients are smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar in ½-cup increments. Start with 3 cups and if desired, add extra ½ cup increments until the desired sweetness level is achieved.
- Mix on low speed to combine all ingredients.
- The desired consistency of the frosting can now be achieved. If too thick, add remaining tablespoons of milk 1 at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.
