Leucocytes are made up of neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, macrophages and monocytes, each of which play different roles in the body's immune system.

The lymphocytes (specifically the T [from thymus] lymphocytes) are the first to trigger the immune system, while the neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages generally are the cleanup crew of the immune system.
