How to Use Nearby Share on a Chromebook

Nearby Share is a new Chromium-based wireless file-sharing tool available on selected Chromebooks. This feature allows you to quickly and easily share content with nearby Chrome OS, Android, and Windows devices.

Instructions

  1. Open the "Settings" menu on your Chromebook.
  2. Scroll down to the "Connected Devices" section and select "Nearby Share."
  3. Enable the "Allow file sharing and device linking" option.
  4. Open the file you would like to share on your device.
  5. Select the share icon and then "Nearby Share" from the drop-down menu.
  6. Choose the device you would like to share the file with.
  7. Accept the connection request on the receiving device.
  8. The file should now be shared and accessible on the receiving device.

Now that you have enabled Nearby Share, you can quickly and easily share any kind of file with other Chromebooks or compatible devices, without having to plug in a USB cable or email it to yourself.
