Unhiding Folders in Windows 7

Folders can be hidden in Windows 7, but if you find that a folder you need is missing, here’s how to unhide it.

Instructions

  1. Open the Start menu. Depending on your settings, you may need to click the small arrow on the left in order to see all the options.
  2. Type “Folder Options” in the search box to open the Folder Options window.
  3. Click on the View tab (third tab from the left).
  4. Check the box labelled “Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives”.
  5. Click “OK” to confirm.
  6. Your folder should now appear. If it doesn’t, make sure to check the box labelled “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)”.
