Removing Mold from Clothing
Mold can accumulate on clothing over time and create an unsightly and smelly mess. Thankfully, with a few simple steps, you can remove mold from clothing and get your garments looking and smelling fresh again.
Instructions
- Soak the affected clothing in cold water for 10-15 minutes. This will help to loosen the mold up and make it easier to remove.
- Once the clothing is soaked, mix a solution of one part laundry detergent and four parts water in a bucket. Submerge the clothing in the mixture and let it soak for 1-2 hours.
- Once the clothing has finished soaking, remove it from the detergent mixture and wash in a washing machine with a hot water cycle.
- When the wash cycle is complete add 3/4 cup of either borax or white vinegar to the load. Repeat the wash cycle.
- Once the final wash cycle is finished, hang the clothing outside in direct sunlight to dry. Don't put the clothing in a dryer as this can set the mold in the fabric.
- After the clothing is dry inspect it to ensure that all the mold has been removed.
