6 Easy Ways to Restore a Tunneling Candle

Candles are an excellent way to bring light and warmth to a space. Unfortunately, the flame on a candle can sometimes tunnel, leaving a large hole in the middle and an uneven burn. You can restore your tunneling candle and get it burning evenly again with just a few easy steps! Here's what you can do:

  • Let your candle cool before making adjustments. Never try to make adjustments when the flame is hot, as this can be dangerous.
  • Use an old butter knife or other object to scoop out the leftover wax from the center of the candle. Put this extra wax to the side.
  • Place the candle into a cup of hot water. This will loosen up the wax on the sides of the candle, making it easier to adjust.
  • Remove the candle from the hot water, then use a paper towel or cloth to press against the sides of the candle to even it out. Allow the wax to solidify.
  • Melt the extra wax you removed earlier in a double boiler, then pour a small amount of the melted wax into the center of the candle. Allow to cool and solidify.
  • Light your candle and adjust the wick as needed to ensure a more even burn.

With just a few steps, you can restore a tunneling candle to its original shape and make sure that flame burns evenly. Now, you can enjoy the calming atmosphere of a candle with no worries.
