How to Make DIY Clay Dolls at Home
If you are looking for a fun and creative outdoor creative project, DIY clay dolls might be the activity for you! Making your own clay dolls is a great way to express yourself and express your love for art and design. With a few simple steps and a few basic materials, you can make your very own clay dolls from the comfort of your home.
Materials
- Air-dry clay
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
- Rolling pin
- Modeling tools
- Craft eyes or buttons
- Pencil
- Cookie cutters (optional)
Instructions
- Roll out your air-dry clay with a rolling pin. You can experiment with different thicknesses, anywhere from 1/8” to 1/4”. Ensure that your clay is even in thickness.
- Cut shapes from your clay using a cookie cutter or a butter knife. Alternatively, use a pencil to sketch out the profile of your doll before cutting it out.
- Attach the body, legs, and arms of your dolls to each other using a little bit of water. This will act as glue, and the pieces will stick together.
- Next, use modeling tools to create facial features, clothes, and hair for your doll. Use small detailing tools for finer details.
- Add accessories and eyes to the dolls. Craft eyes can be glued directly onto the clay, or you can add buttons for eyes as well.
- Paint your dolls using acrylic paint, if desired. Allow the paint to dry and then you are done!
