Steps for Tying a Jiu-Jitsu Belt
Once you have found the correct size Jiu-Jitsu belt for your body, you can begin to learn how to tie the belt. Here is a step-by-step guide to properly tie a Jiu-Jitsu belt so it is secure and well-fitting:
- Put the Jiu-Jitsu belt on the way you would with a normal belt. Place the center of the belt over the navel, with the end with the knot farthest away from you.
- Cross the longest end of the belt over the shorter end, and thread it through the belt loop.
- Thread this same end (the longest end) through the gap between your body and the belt.
- Wrap this same end (longest end) around your body, and make sure it comes through the belt loop again.
- Tie the long end of the belt into a square knot at the front of your body, pulling the two ends of the belt in opposite directions. Make sure the knot is tight and secure.
- Cross the shorter end of the belt over the longer end, and thread it through the belt loop.
- Cut the remaining end off with scissors once it is roughly the length of the shorter end.
