Attaching a Guitar Strap to a Classical Guitar

Guitar straps provide important support when you are performing with a classical guitar. It's essential to make sure the strap is correctly affixed to your instrument to ensure it will not come loose or cause any damage. Here are the steps necessary for attaching a strap to your classical guitar.

  1. Locate the two end pins on the base of your instrument where the neck meets the body. These pins are typically covered by a small plastic disc.
  2. Carefully remove the two discs that cover your end pins. If they are stuck and do not come out easily, try using a small flathead screwdriver.
  3. Feed the two ends of the guitar strap through the holes of the exposed pins.
  4. Tie knots in the excess length of the strap to secure it in place on each pin. Alternatively, you can pass the excess length of the strap back through the hole and secure it with a knot.
  5. Test how secure the strap is on your instrument by gently tugging on either end. If the straps feel securely fastened, your guitar is ready to use.
