How to Cook Asparagus on the Stove
Asparagus makes a nutritious and delicious side dish. It's so easy to prepare, too - with just a few simple steps, you'll be enjoying your asparagus in no time.
- Gather your ingredients. You'll need asparagus, butter, salt, pepper, and garlic (optional).
- Break off the ends of the asparagus. Trim off the woody parts at the bottom of the stalks, and discard them.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt your butter in the pan. Once the butter has melted, add your asparagus to the pan.
- Sprinkle your asparagus with salt and pepper, and add the garlic, if desired. Stir the asparagus in the butter to coat.
- Cook the asparagus for 5 – 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is tender and cooked through. If you like your asparagus more crunchy, you can cook it for less time.
- Remove the asparagus from the skillet and serve warm.
