Secondary immune response is the reaction of the immune system when it contacts an antigen for the second and subsequent times. The antigen memory cells are thus rapidly activated. The process occurs primarily in response to primary contact of the antigen. It appears in the lymph nodes, spleen and bone marrow.

Secondary immune response occurs both in B- and T cells and leads to activation of previously generated memory cells.
