You really don't owe them an explanation, unless it would make you feel better to tell them. It sounds like they're not very supportive, in which case it might be best for you to just find better friends who will use your pronouns without being rude about it. If you decide you want to tell people, just tell them directly, "I'm intersex," and include whatever details you feel comfortable sharing.
