Sharing Your Location with Android Users

Unfortunately, Find My Friends only works between iPhones, so if you are trying to share your location with an Android user, you are out of luck. However, there are some alternatives to Find My Friends that you can utilize for a similar purpose.

  • Google Latitude: Google Latitude is a service offered from Google that allows users to share their location with other people. Unlike Find My Friends, it is available on both iPhone and Android. You simply set up your Google Latitude account, and then ensure that all your friends also set up their own accounts. Then, you can share your locations with each other so you can always keep tabs on one another.
  • Glympse: Glympse is a location-based app that allows users to share their locations with their friends. It is available on both iPhone and Android. One of the great things about Glympse is that you can set the location sharing to a time limit, so that after a set period of time, you are no longer visible in that friend's app.
  • Life 360: Life 360 is a family safety hub that allows family members to check in at designated places so that all family members are aware of the whereabouts of everyone else. It also allows you to keep track of everyone's driving habits, too. Life 360 is available on both iPhone and Android.

With a variety of location-sharing options available to Android and iPhone users, there is no reason to be without a Find My Friends equivalent. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to keep track of either an Android or an iPhone user, these options should provide an adequate solution.
