Whether you're transferring the SMS from your Samsung Galaxy device to another phone, performing a system restore, or want a backup of your messages regardless, it's important to first know how to successfully back up SMS messages on your device. The following guide covers the process for backing up SMS messages from a Samsung Galaxy device to a computer quickly and easily.
If you want to back up your SMS messages on your Samsung Galaxy device to your computer, you can do so easily with just a few steps. Here’s how:
Your SMS messages should now be backed up to your computer. You never know when you might lose your device, and this is a great way of ensuring you don’t lose any of your important messages.
You can easily back up your text messages from a Samsung Galaxy device to your computer. To get started, you'll need a computer with an internet connection, a USB cable, and the Samsung Smart Switch app.
Connect your Samsung Galaxy device to your computer using the USB cable.
Download and install the Samsung Smart Switch app onto your computer. This app will allow you to transfer data between your device and your computer.
On your Galaxy device, open the Smart Switch app and select the “Back Up” option. This will enable you to select what data you’d like to back up.
Select the “Text Messages” option, then select “Back Up”.
Once the backup is completed, go to the folder that contains the backup file on your computer, and rename it as “SMSBackup”.
You can now view the text messages from your device on your computer in the “SMSBackup” folder. To view the messages, open the file in a text editor or use a dedicated SMS backup application.
