How to Make DIY Fabric Bows without Sewing
Creating beautiful and stylish bows for your giftwraps, hair accessories and decorations can be done without needing a sewing machine or even any sewing skills. Here's how to make a fabric bow with a few supplies and a few easy steps.
Materials
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Ribbon (optional)
Instructions
- Cut a piece of fabric that is twice as long as it is wide. For example, if you want a 3-inch bow, cut a 6-inch long by 3-inch wide rectangle.
- Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, and run a line of hot glue along both the top and bottom edges, leaving the center open.
- Allow the glue to dry, and then cut the fabric down the middle from top to bottom.
- Unfold the fabric so it looks like an open-ended tube. Then, using your fingertips, pinch the middle of the tube and tie an 8- to 10-inch piece of ribbon around the middle. You can also use a piece of thread or yarn instead of a ribbon.
- Make sure that the ends of the fabric tube are even, and then trim them if needed.
- To give your fabric bow some volume, push your fingers into the sides of the bow to shape it.
- TIP: For a more finished look, you can add a few small jewels or rhinestones to the center of the bow.
