Step-by-step Instructions on Making a Capo at Home Using Office Supplies
If your instrument is missing a capo, don't fret! You can easily make one at home using some basic office supplies, such as file folders, paper clips, and fender washers. Here are a few steps to help you get started:
Materials Needed:
- 1 Plastic File Folder
- 1 Single Paperclip
- 2 Fender Washers
Instructions:
- Using a pair of scissors, cut the equation-side of the file folder in half.
- Pull apart the bent paper clip so that there is a "U" shape. Place one of the fender washers on either end of the "U" shape.
- Place the bent paper clip onto one of the file folder halves (it will likely require a bit of force to get the paper clip to stay put).
- Place the second fender washer onto the other side of the file folder to create a hinge-like structure.
- Fold the file folder capo and ensure that the two fender washers are touching but not overlapping. If it’s too loose, trim the file folder until it fits correctly.
