Installing WSJT-X on Linux Mint

WSJT-X is a popular and powerful piece of software for Amateur Radio operators that facilitates weak signal communication between users. Installing it on Linux Mint is a relatively simple process.

Install from Source

The following instructions will guide you through installing WSJT-X from source:

  1. Download the source from the official website.
  2. Extract the downloaded source archive using a file archiving utility. Examples include 7-Zip or GNU Tar.
  3. Open a terminal window.
  4. Change directory to the root of the source tree you just extracted, using the cd command.
  5. Enter the command ./configure to start the installation.
  6. Once the configuration script completes, enter make, which will build the program.
  7. Enter the command make install to install the program.
  8. Once the installation is complete, you can find the installed program in your Launch Menu.

Installing from a Package

You can also install WSJT-X from a package. This is often the most convenient way to install the program.

  1. Open a terminal window.
  2. Enter the command sudo apt-get install wsjtx. This will download and install the package to your system.
  3. Once the installation is complete, you can find the installed program in your Launch Menu.
