Uber requires its drivers to pass a background check for every city they will be driving in before they can take passengers. These background checks look for any driving or criminal records while taking into account the laws of the area they will be driving in.
Uber looks at any felony, violent crime, or sexual offense convictions occurring in the last 7 years. The background check also looks for major driving offenses such as DUI’s, hit and runs, or any major severity violation, of which the time frame varies based on state law.
The background check process can take several days or even up to several weeks, depending on the case. If there is additional information needed to clear your background check, you may be contacted. Once your background check is cleared, you will be able to begin driving with Uber.
